Marieke Gouda Creamed Corn

2 tbsp. Unsalted Butter

2 tbsp. All-Purpose Flour

1 cup Whole Milk

1/4 tsp. Garlic Powder

1/8 tsp. Cayenne

1/2 tsp. Salt plus more to taste

1/2 tsp. Black Pepper plus more to taste

1/2 cup Shredded Marieke Premium Gouda Cheese

1/2 cup Shredded Marieke Bacon Gouda Cheese

20 ounces Frozen Corn

1 cup Chopped Crispy Bacon

1/2 cup Green Onions chopped       


Preheat oven to 350°F.

Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour, and cook for two minutes.


Slowly whisk in milk, then garlic powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Simmer until thickened, stirring occasionally for about five minutes.


Stir in cheese, one handful at a time, until thoroughly mixed in.


Stir in the frozen corn and the crispy bacon. Taste, and season with more salt and pepper if desired.


Transfer the cheesy corn to a small casserole dish (about 3 quarts). Cover the dish with foil. Bake for 25 minutes.

Carefully remove the foil from the dish, and bake for an additional 15 minutes.


Garnish with chopped green onion. Serve hot with tortilla or pita chips.
