Caramelized Onion and Gouda Dip

Get ready to wow your guests with our Gouda Caramelized Onion Dip! It's cheesy, gooey, and delicious, and the best part? It's a breeze to whip up!

Ingredients:

  • 10 oz Marieke Gouda cheese, rind removed, cubed or shredded (we like a combination of Young and Premium Gouda)
  • 1 large yellow onion thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Pinch of salt
  • Fresh thyme for garnish
  • Crusty bread crackers, or fresh veggies for serving

Directions:

  • Melt the butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions,  a pinch of salt, and half a cup of water. Cook the onions, stirring occasionally, until they turn golden brown and caramelized. This will take about 15 - 20 minutes; lower the heat if needed to prevent burning. This step can be done ahead of time.

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F. In a small cast iron skillet, add the cubed or shredded Gouda.

  • Place the dish in the oven and bake for 20 - 30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  • Remove the dish from the oven and immediately spread the onions over the melted cheese.

  • Sprinkle fresh thyme leaves on top for a pop of color and flavor. Serve warm with crusty bread, crackers, or fresh veggies for dipping.
